FAQs about Special Events at Delta

Can I have a private event like a wedding reception or baby shower at the College?

Absolutely.  Delta College's courtyard is a beautiful location for your wedding or family gathering and our Commons holds up to 300 people comfortably.  In addition, our catering service can accommodate any of your food service needs.

Can I hold a special event at other Delta College locations?

Yes.  Delta College's Planetarium is a popular location for meetings, conferences and team building events.  Both the Midland and Ricker Centers are great locations for group meetings, training sessions and seminars.

What facilities and locations are available for special events?

Nearly all of our facilities, including classrooms, meeting rooms, lecture halls, Commons, gyms, hallways, tennis courts, cross-country course or parking lots are available for use.

How far in advance do I need to schedule an event?

Four to six weeks is sufficient time to schedule meetings or small gatherings.  Larger events are often scheduled up to one-year in advance.  The College's scheduling priorities are:

  • Delta College academic classes and programs, Corporate Services, Skilled Trades, Lifelong Learning Center and Criminal Justice Programs
  • Delta College athletic-related events
  • Internal, College-sponsored events
  • External, non-sponsored events

Can I bring balloons in for a special event?

Delta College encourages and requests that only latex-safe gloves and balloons be used on the premises to avoid potential related risks and allergic reactions to employees, students, and visitors.

Can I sell things at my event?

Requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by Business Services in accordance with the College's guidelines regarding sales and solicitations.

What if I need audio-visual equipment?

Delta College's Audio-Visual Department has a variety of A/V equipment to meet your needs, including flip charts, portable and fixed public address systems, computer "smart carts," televisions, and VCRs and DVD players.  Standard classrooms come equipped with an overhead projector and screen; "smart" classrooms and lecture halls generally include an overhead projector and screen, data projector, document camera and plug-ins for your laptop computer.

How much does it cost to have an event at Delta?

There is no facility usage fee for College-sponsored events.  However, direct costs such as set-up, Public Safety and supervision costs are quoted on a per event basis.  Non-sponsored events will be assessed room charges in addition to direct costs.

Can I bring my own caterer?

No.  In order to comply with governmental health regulations and to protect the College from food-related liabilities, the College's Food Services has exclusive rights for catering, food service and beverage needs at all College facilities.  Food Services can meet with you to discuss your needs and help you plan a menu that fits your needs and budget.
