How to Contact Ms. Harris:

Trish Harris started working as a writing tutor in 1986, when she was still an undergraduate English major. She started teaching college-level writing in 1989. She believes everyone can write, whether they believe it or not. Her classroom activity focuses on this belief, and her activities outside the classroom also try to create possibilities for all sorts of writers. She has coordinated a multi-year poetry reading series, run a writing festival, sponsored a student writing group, started a letter exchange with refugee-status students in Kenya and Sierra Leone, and launched a campus community garden. She is the founding editor of the Pea River Journal and the curator of the EU Artline-funded Remaking Moby-Dick project. She is also a writer listed in the Poets & Writers Directory. She has been a SAFE advocate for LGBTQ students and maintains an open door policy. The first college graduate in her family, she remains grounded in a sense of possibility and knows how much it matters that someone believes and cares enough to show you the way. She spends her free time visiting museums and cultural events, creating things, and (in the summer) working in a community garden.
