The Fitness & Recreation Center at Delta offers a wide variety of group fitness classes and learn-to-swim classes. Spots fill quickly, so register early!

Pilates class


Group Classes

May - August 2017

Aqua-workout

Class covers 35 minutes of aerobic activity, 15 minutes of strength training and 10 minutes of flexibility. Due to the buoyancy of the water, there is less stress placed on the joints. You do not need to know how to swim to participate.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 – 9:30am
Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 – 7:00pm
Tuesday and Thursday, 4:15 – 5:15pm

Fees
Monthly Pass (unlimited classes for the calendar month):  $20 members, $40 non-members
12-Class Punch Card: $36 members, $72 non-members
Drop-In: $4 members, $8 non-members

Monthly passes can be purchased online. Punch cards and drop-in must be purchased in person at the service desk. To receive the member rate, participants must have a membership that is current until the end of the month. If the membership will expire during the month, it must be renewed at the time of registration. If attendance falls below four participants for two weeks in a row, the class may be canceled.

Deep water exercise

Class is held entirely in the deep end of the pool, providing a very high intensity, low impact workout. Buoyancy belts are available, but a comfort level with deep water is recommended.

Fitness workout

Class activities focus on strength and flexibility, giving you a well-rounded fitness program. Participants will learn how to use equipment such as weights, resistance bands and stability balls in a safe friendly atmosphere – great for all fitness levels. FREE for members.

Twinges in the Hinges

This Arthritis Foundation Aquatic program is comprised of activities that help reduce pain and improve overall health. Suitable for every fitness level, the classes are held in a friendly, supportive environment that encourages social interaction among participants.

Swimming LESSONS

Little Squids, 6 month to 2 years

For children six months to two years old, with parent. Focus is on water adjustment, water entry, arm movements, underwater exploration, plus water safety for parents. Non-toilet trained children must wear a swim diaper. Parents must be in the water at all times.

For the pre-school age child who is ready to learn to swim without their parents in the water.

Jellyfish (Beg. I)
Water adjustment, buoyancy, assisted back and front floats, underwater exploration and personal safety.

Sunfish (Beg. II)
Floating, buoyancy, breathing skills, arm strokes and personal safety.

Starfish (Inter. I)
Improve coordination and endurance with crawl strokes.

Sea Turtles (Beg. I)
Water adjustment, buoyancy, assisted back and front floats, underwater exploration and personal safety.

Octopus (Beg. II)
Floating, buoyancy, breathing skills, arm strokes and personal safety.

Stingrays (Inter. I)
Improve coordination and endurance with crawl strokes. Elementary Backstroke will be introduced.

Sailfish (Inter. II)
Develop confidence in skills and improve endurance. Breaststroke, sidestroke and basic turns introduced.

Dolphins (Adv. I)
Coordination and refinement of the key strokes. Butterfly, open turns and underwater skills introduced.

Whales (Adv. II)
Skill proficiency, refining strokes to swim with more ease, efficiency and power over a great distance.

 Semi-private lessons

Make your own class, with one instructor and two to four students. Lessons consist of 45 minutes of instruction and 15 minutes of practice and recreational time. Participants should be at the same level.

If you would like semi-private lessons and do not have anyone to join you, let us know and we will try to pair you up with others wanting to do the same thing.

Fee
$98 per person for seven classes. No discount given for members.

Lesson cancellations require a minimum of six-hour notice in order to be made up, and only one make-up is allowed per session. Payment is required at the time of your first lesson.

 Private lessons

Schedule time to receive one-on-one instruction with one of our swimming instructors. Lessons consist of 45 minutes of instruction and 15 minutes of practice and recreational time.

Fee
$25 per person for one class, or seven classes for $126 per person.

Recreational Swimming

Kids splash

Parents, would you like a break in the middle of your hectic week? Bring your children to swim in our leisure pool and you get in free.

Kids Splash allows children six months to five years old to enjoy recreational swimming in our leisure pool. All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older and the adult must be in the water with children five years old and younger. This is a great way to have fun with your child while interacting with other families.
