Documentary Re-airs


Delta College’s Q-TV is pleased to announce the re-broadcasting of four award winning, locally produced documentaries during their May Fest pledge drive. This is the first time Q-TV is showing all of its latest local documentaries during one pledge drive. The local history documentaries have always been very well supported by viewers and a couple of these documentaries have not been aired recently.

MARGIN OF VICTORY: Saginaw Valley’s Role in Winning World War II

Saturday, May 11 from 5:30pm - 7pm

It’s the story of the people and companies of the Saginaw Valley and the role they played in the home front war effort. Included in the documentary are segments on Bay City’s Defoe Shipyard, which produced over 150 ships in three years of war production. Along with stories of the Saginaw GM gun plant which manufactured over a million machine guns and the contributions of The Dow Chemical Company and Dow Corning to winning WWII. Features local documentary film maker Ric Mixter and Q-TV Producer/Director Bob Przybylski.

TRACKS THROUGH TIME: Michigan Railroads-History & Impact

Saturday, May 11 from 8:30pm - 10:30pm

Learn the story of railroading in Michigan from its arrival in 1838, to the present day revival of railroad transportation. The railroad was a major catalyst for the development of the state, and changed the lives of its residents through the ability to get goods from around the country and opened up convenient travel over long distances, which before the railroads were major difficult journeys. Features local documentary film maker Ric Mixter and Q-TV producer/director Bob Przybylski.

THE KOREAN WAR – Voices from the 38th Parallel

Tuesday, May 14 from 8pm - 10pm

Twenty-four local Korean War Veterans tell their emotional stories of the “forgotten war”… 60 years later. The documentary premiered on Delta College’s Q-TV in September 2012 and recently was awarded the Michigan Association of Broadcasters "Best in Category" Documentary award. Features long-time supporter Dick Dolinski, Q-TV producer/director Bob Przybylski and narrator Robert Stafford.

SAWDUST & SHANTY BOYS: Logging the Saginaw Valley White Pine

Thursday, May 16 from 8pm - 9:30pm

The "shanty boys" and "timber barons" of Michigan’s lumbering past were some of the most important and colorful figures in our state’s history. These hardy men became folk heroes cutting their way through the Michigan woods and fighting their way through the saloons, gambling halls and sin parlors of the local lumber towns. These pioneers were tremendously important in the growth of such towns as Bay City, Saginaw and Midland. Features narrator Eric Jylha and Q-TV producer/director Bob Przybylski.
