Are you a singer? Do you enjoy singing in a vocal group? Audition for the Delta College Choirs!
The choirs of Delta College are looking for talented individuals who love to sing and are willing to make a commitment to excellence in musical performance. This commitment is something that each of the ensembles works hard for, and as a result, they have had the honor of performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York.
There are three choirs:
- Chorale (MUS 146) – non audition, open to any faculty or student
- Chamber Choir (MUS 190) – audition only, open to any faculty, staff or student upon successful audition
- Jazz Singers (MUS 194) – audition only, open to any faculty, staff or student upon successful audition
The Delta College Jazz Singers and Chamber Choir will be holding auditions in room S-131 on the following dates:
Wednesday, August 28 from 5-8pm
Thursday, August 29 from 6-8pm
Jazz Singer audition requirements: You must have a prepared song. You can bring sheet music (an accompanist will be provided), or you can accompany yourself, or bring a CD. You will be asked to vocalize and some light pitch recognition. You may be asked to sing with one or more other persons. Only twelve positions available! Acceptance into the ensemble will require you to be able to travel for at least 1 over-night gig.
Chamber Choir audition requirements: No prepared piece is required. You will be asked to sight read a few passages (no problem if you don’t read music – it’s a simple test to determine your abilities in reading music and pitch recognition) You may be asked to sing with one or more persons to see how well you can blend with other voices. There are only 12 positions available, 4 soprano, 4 alto, 4 tenor and 4 bass.
