Jill Gallihugh Distinguished Alumni Award
The Jill Gallihugh Outstanding Alumni Award was developed in 2005 to showcase academy graduates who are leaders in the law enforcement community. It recognizes professional and scholarly achievement, and is presented to a person who has demonstrated a high level of commitment to the welfare of the entire community served by Delta College. Jill Gallihugh retired after 25 years of dedicated service to Delta in 2006, and played an integral part in the success of the academy.

Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson of the Huron County Sheriff’s Office received the Jill Gallihugh Outstanding Alumni Award during the recent commencement for the 93rd Delta College Police Academy graduation December 2013.
Sheriff Hanson's involvement with the Huron County Sheriff’s Office began 1982, starting as a deck hand in the Marine Division. In 1984, he was employed as a full-time Marine Deputy while operating as a Corrections Deputy during the winter months. Sheriff Hanson successfully completed the Northeastern Police Academy at Delta College in the Fall of 1985. This lead to his becoming a sworn Deputy Sheriff. In 2008, he was elected Huron County's 31st Sheriff.
