Firearm Safety Course - CCW

This course is designed for persons desiring to obtain a carrying concealed weapon (CCW) permit. If you have never had a CCW permit or obtained a CCW permit prior to July 1, 2001, you must attend a Firearm Safety Course. Our Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) approved course covers safe storage, use and handling of a pistol; ammunition knowledge; fundamentals of pistol shooting, pistol shooting positions; firearms and the law, including civil liability issues; avoiding criminal attack and controlling violent confrontations; and all laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this state. Each student will be required to demonstrate proper and safe handling of a pistol and shooting skills adequate to pass a course of fire which requires a minimum of 30 rounds. You will be required to bring your own weapon and 50 rounds of ammunition on the third evening of class.

Firearm Safety Renewal Course

This course is designed for persons who obtained a CCW permit after July 1, 2001 and desire to renew their carrying concealed weapon (CCW) permit. Our Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) approved course covers safe use and handling of a pistol; fundamentals of pistol shooting, pistol shooting positions; firearms and the law, including civil liability issues; avoiding criminal attack and controlling violent confrontations; and all laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this state.  Each student will be required to demonstrate proper and safe handling of a pistol and shooting skills adequate to pass a course of fire which requires a minimum of 30 rounds.

You will be required to attend the Monday session (legal update) and Wednesday session (pistol range). Bring your own weapon and 50 rounds of ammunition for the Wednesday evening class.
