The Democracy Commitment
Delta College is proud to participate in The Democracy Commitment, a national community college initiative to develop and expand programs, projects and curricula that engage students in civic learning and democratic practice. We have a Democracy Commitment student club and a core team of faculty and staff bringing together perspectives from across campus.
DeltaVotes! Registration Drive
Be an active citizen, every vote counts! Through the DeltaVotes! Registration Drive, a team of students worked together to help more than 500 students on campus get registered to vote.
Democracy in Motion Wall
Share your opinion! The Democracy in Motion Wall is a physical space for students to engage in discussion of current political events.
We've All Got Issues Campaign
Have your voice heard! The "We've All Got Issues" campaign gives students a voice in government. Cast your "vote" for issues you want Michigan lawmakers to make a priority and help take those issues to Lansing.
Use your creativity and energy to positively impact your community. In 2012, over 500 Bridgeport High School students visited Delta College for an event with civic activist Erica Williams, along with sessions to acclimate them to college life.
Delta College students lead area middle and high school students through a process of positive community change in a program called Public Achievement. In the Fall 2013 semester, about 60 Delta students are working with students at Bridgeport High School and Ruben Daniels Middle School on a weekly basis to identify and address issues of concern.
