Public Achievement 

Public Achievement is about empowering our young people to understand they have a voice and a role in the communities and world in which they live. It is a Youth Civic Engagement initiative where Delta College students work with K-12 youth to facilitate positive change through community improvement projects. As a Public Achievement coach, Delta students can earn course credit and internships. 

Benefits of being a coach

1.       Earn course credit and/or complete the 1 unit of civic engagement requirement to graduate
2.       Expand your personal and professional network with Delta students, Faculty, & Great Lakes Bay Region
          Community members
3.       Increase your understanding of root causes to the social, cultural, educational, political, and individual problems
          our communities face every day.
4.       Give a civic voice to our K-12 youth. Improve a young person's likelihood of succeeding academically, socially,
          and personally. Help our young people engage in their education and become co-creators in their learning. Give
          them an opportunity to succeed.
5.       Develop your leadership skills to improve your employ-ability.

How to get Involved

Enroll in the following classes:  
POL 104CW - A learning community with Professor Lawrason (Political Science) and Professor Handley Miller (Communication).
POL 104W – A political science course with  the Public Achievement project.
