Grievance Procedure for Part-Time Instructors
The College recognizes the need for you to be able to express job-related concerns with your direct supervisor in a professional manner, without fear of reprisal. We realize, however, that differences of opinion can occur. If, at any time, you find that you cannot resolve a job-related issue with your supervisor, we encourage you to speak with your Associate Dean.
If you are still not satisfied, or if you do not receive a response from your Associate Dean, you are encouraged to continue the process of addressing the next supervisory level, the Dean of Teaching and Learning. You are welcome to contact the Human Resources department at any time during this process for guidance.
If you are not satisfied with the response received from the Dean of Teaching and Learning, or if you do not receive a response, you may contact the Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources, or his/her designee, will review the facts, complete an additional investigation, if warranted, and will inform you of the results. A final review of the problem is available by discussing your concerns with the Vice President of Instruction/Learning Services. The Vice President of Instruction/Learning Services, or his/her designee will review the previous investigation information and results as well as any additional information, as warranted and will communicate his/her decision to you. The decision made by the Vice President of Instruction/Learning Services will be final.
If your concern involves an issue of discrimination or harassment based upon religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, arrest record, veteran status, disability or other classification protected by state or federal law, you should contact the college’s Equity Officer, or Director of Human Resources and, if an informal resolution is not possible, you should use the College’s Grievance Procedure for Equal Opportunity/Equity Concerns.
