2.080 Released and Extra Contractual Time Projects**
- Delta College will support justifiable proposals for Released/Extra Contractual Time
Projects which are directed toward:
- Improving the quality of instruction
- Developing or revising curricula
- Decreasing credit hour costs of instruction
- Individual (or group) research projects
- Other areas within the philosophy and objectives of the College
- Definitions:
- A "released time" project is one that is undertaken during either the Fall or Winter Semester or regular contractual period as part of a Faculty member’s load.
- A project designated as "extra contractual time" is one that is undertaken during
the Spring or Summer semesters or in addition to normal Fall or Winter teaching load.
Compensation for extra contractual time projects will be determined as follows:
- College-funded projects: Determination by the academic Associate Dean and the appropriate Academic Dean in consultation with the concerned Faculty member. (Normal compensation is based on spring/summer compensation per credit hour.)
- Outside source-funded projects: Determination by the appropriate Academic Dean and the funding source in consultation with the concerned Faculty member.
- An “extra contractual time” project for Administrative/Professional Staff is one recognized, defined, and approved by the appropriate executive staff member. Extra contractual time projects may be compensated as supplemental pay determined by the appropriate administrators and approved by the executive staff member in conjunction with the Human Resources Office.
- Released/Extra Contractual Time Project Proposals may be submitted to and approved,
within established budgetary guidelines, by:
- The Sabbatical Leaves and Grants Committee, OR
- The Chief Academic Officer, OR
- The President of the College
Notification of the nature of the released/extra contractual time project will be on file and available for review in the Senate Office.
- Projects may be proposed by both full-time Faculty and Administrative/Professional Staff.
- A concise written report must be submitted to the appropriate source of each grant within days of the completion of the project and made available in the Senate Office for perusal by all College personnel.
