3.012 Program Accreditation Policy and Procedure for Faculty

Once a program has been accredited, the College administration is charged with upholding the standards of accreditation. If the accrediting body establishes substantial new or revised standards for accreditation, the chief academic officer, with the advice from the appropriate dean(s) and the academic Associate Dean(s) and Program Coordinator, will forward a recommendation on accreditation to the President. The President will decide whether Delta will continue to seek reaccreditation.

If specific accrediting requirements establish new or revised academic or experiential requirements for Faculty in the program that differ substantially from the standards under which specific Faculty in the program were hired, reappointed, and/or received tenure, the College will, working with individual Faculty and the academic Associate Dean, devise a development plan for each Faculty member to ensure continuance of the accreditation and the currency of the affected Faculty. The development plan will contain specific details on Faculty and administrative obligations, compensation, and completion dates.

Regular College reimbursement programs may be used for classes necessitated by accreditation. In addition, special reimbursement may be available through the Office of the chief academic officer for up to one-half of the total cost not covered by other College monies that may be available. In order to facilitate Faculty compliance with revised program accreditation standards, the College administration will work in cooperation with the affected party to adjust teaching schedules, departmental or College governance assignments, and make other accommodations as necessary.

If Faculty participation and change is necessary for accreditation and if the administration has decided to seek reaccreditation, the affected Faculty must fulfill the requirements of the accrediting body in advancing their skills. If the affected Faculty refuse to participate in developing and carrying out an implementation plan, the refusal will be considered grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

This policy must be reviewed in September 2020.
