3.040 Supplemental Employment
-
- Faculty members are allowed to teach for extra compensation beyond their contractual load of fifteen equated hours per semester (or as described in their load distribution plan). However, when the requested load exceeds 20 equated credit hours, faculty members must document their teaching effectiveness and general service to the College using a standard procedure that has been approved by the Academic Council. After review, the request is either approved or denied by the academic Associate Dean and then the Dean of Teaching and Learning.
- All those who hold a full-time Faculty appointment are to be given priority in obtaining a full load or one extra teaching assignment per semester. If such a class from an extra teaching assignment is canceled, the Faculty member can choose to take a stand-by commitment, up through and including the first day of classes, as per the College academic calendar. See Senate Policy 3.005.
- All supplemental class assignments will be based on a divisional rotation plan. All supplemental Spring and Summer classes will be offered to full-time Faculty members before going outside the division. Where Faculty have competency across disciplines, their assignments may also be available across disciplines. Competency must be determined by the appropriate discipline.
