3.050 Faculty Salary Agreement Negotiations

Philosophy: All Assembly members recognize the challenging and important nature of this topic. Therefore, it is the purpose of this section to create a respectful and responsible negotiation environment.

    1. The Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) will oversee the election of faculty to the Faculty Salary Committee (FSC). The guidelines for this election will be defined in the FEC Operating Rules. There will be no more than nine members on FSC with members elected to three-year overlapping terms. To encourage communication and creativity, an effort will be made to have a balance of divisional representation.
    2. The Faculty Salary Committee (FSC) and the Administrative Team are responsible for negotiating the salary and benefits for the Delta College Faculty.
    3. Before salary discussions occur, the Faculty Salary Committee chair and the Administrative Team chair will reach a mutual agreement regarding the process of negotiations. The FEC chair and the College President will be kept informed as to the progress and state of negotiations.
    4. All agreed upon information from past negotiations will be updated annually even if formal negotiations are not in progress. The Faculty Salary Committee chair and the Administrative Team chair can meet and agree to remove parts of the shared information if the information is deemed unnecessary.
    5. When a tentative agreement is reached:
      1. Both the Faculty Salary Committee and the Administrative Team will review and approve the wording of the tentative agreement.
      2. Upon approval of the wording, the chair of Faculty Salary Committee and the chair of the Administrative Team will sign the tentative agreement.
      3. Both the College President and the FEC chair will be notified. The tentative agreement must be ratified by majority vote of the faculty. That vote will be conducted by the FEC.
      4. The ratified tentative agreement will be taken to the Board of Trustees for approval no later than its next scheduled Board meeting.
