“There is a lot of mindfulness that goes into play,” says Elisabeth Remington, student. “All of the activities are so thought out and so well planned. We’re not just playing; but we’re building brains.” Child development teachers provide cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth and development opportunities and support for infants, toddlers and preschoolers—a crucial learning period in a child’s life. They focus on whole child development and helping children for later academic and social success.
What is the job outlook for early childhood education?
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, an average of about 106,500 job opening for kindergarten an elementary school teachers is expected each year and employment for preschool teachers is projected to grow 4% with 61,400 openings each year through 2033. “You can start in child development and end up in a wide range of opportunities,” says Jill Harrison, professor. “Because you can choose your internships, placements and the classes that will meet the needs of your goals and your career path.”
