Celebrate the holiday season with special family-friendly shows at the Delta College Planetarium. These immersive and entertaining shows begin running November 23 through December 21.
Season of Light celebrates many of the world's holiday customs and explores how diverse cultures light up the season. The show recounts the historical religious and cultural rituals practiced during the time of the winter solstice—not only Christian and Jewish, but also Celtic, Nordic, Irish, Mexican and Hopi. The show also explores some of our more light-hearted holiday traditions and chronicles the beginnings of one of the season’s most beloved characters, who goes by many names from St. Nicholas and Father Christmas to Kris Kringle and Santa Claus. Season of Light will play from November 23 through December 21, Saturdays at 3:30pm.
Let It Snow celebrates the holiday season with the unique and immersive sights and sounds of the holidays in the Dome360 theater. Along with a tour of holiday skies, the show offers an entertaining experience for audiences of all ages. Let It Snow will play from December 6 through 21, Fridays at 2pm and Saturdays at 2 and 7pm.
Both shows include a short live-guided night sky tour in the planetarium and an update of current events and hot topics in space and astronomy. Visitors are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before show time. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students, children, seniors and military. Tickets may be purchased at the planetarium or online.
