Celebrate International Moon Day at the planetarium

International Moon Day

Delta College Planetarium Presents International Moon Day

Head to the Delta College Planetarium Friday, July 18 at 7pm for a special showing of “Capcom GO! – The Apollo Story.” Immediately following the main feature will be a short presentation by Planetarium Manager Mike Murray that highlights current and future efforts in lunar exploration.

International Moon Day was established in 2021 by the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the anniversary of the July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 moon landing and to promote international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.

The Delta College Planetarium will celebrate the occasion with the award-winning show “Capcom GO! – The Apollo Story” in its Dome360 theater, a fully immersive experience that relives the excitement of the Apollo era.

On display throughout the planetarium’s grand atrium lobby include mission flags, an Apollo 15 moon suit replica and a 15-foot-tall Saturn V rocket replica. Joining them is the new photographic exhibition “Capturing the Cosmos: Images from the Webb Space Telescope,” highlighting the best from NASA’s new infrared space observatory.
