One small leap, one local celebration

Planetarium

The Delta College Planetarium will celebrate the anniversary of the first manned lunar landing with a free event dedicated to Earth’s closest celestial neighbor.

The Observe the Moon Family Night will take place Friday, July 24 beginning at 6pm in the Grand Atrium Lobby with hands-on demonstrations before moving into the Dome360 Theater at 7pm for a live, immersive presentation about the moon.

Astronomer and Planetarium Manager Mike Murray will guide guests through a virtual tour of the lunar surface, sharing what can be observed through binoculars and telescopes while providing updates on recent space exploration efforts, including Artemis II.

If weather permits, the experience continues on the rooftop observation deck, where visitors can observe the moon through telescopes with assistance from the Delta College Astronomy Club. The other activities and planetarium show will take place regardless of weather conditions.

The observe the Moon Family Night is free and open to the public.

For more information about the event, visit the Delta College Planetarium website or call 989-667-2260.
