Student testing a car battery

Working on the cars and light trucks of today require a serious understanding of the technologies that are part of the modern, sophisticated vehicles.

Delta's programs will prepare you for the in-demand, highly-technical field of automotive diagnosis and repair. You'll get skills-focused, hands-on training in state-of-the-art labs as you work on late-model vehicles donated by industry partners. You'll study everything from the fundamentals to emerging technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Delta College automotive service technology programs meet industry standards and are evaluated every five years by the ASE Education Foundation.

  • Auto courses are based on task lists in all eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) areas.
  • Classes are taught through classroom and hands-on lab experiences.
  • Courses prepare students for ASE certification testing.

Another plus, our program is guided by local employers, who participate in an advisory board. Board members keep our classes aligned with industry changes, often welcoming our students as future employees.

Students use Delta's tools for lab class training but are usually required to have tools for employment. It may be possible to obtain an educational discount for most well-known brands.

Program details

Delta offers six different auto programs, allowing you to choose which works best for your goals. You can start with an advanced certificate, then apply those courses toward the associate's degree, or even transfer on to earn your bachelor's degree.
