Accreditation is the process of ensuring that an educational institution meets a certain level of standards. Accreditation is voluntary, but Delta is accredited through a number of accrediting bodies.
It's our quality assurance system, so you know you're getting a quality education and that your credits will transfer. Federal financial aid is also available to students who attend an accredited institution.
Delta College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Initial accreditation
was granted to Delta in October 1962 by the Michigan Commission on College Accreditation.

Delta's accreditation history
A status study to prepare for candidacy was submitted to the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) in May 1964, as a first step toward regional accreditation. College officials were notified in July 1966 that the College had been accepted as a candidate for accreditation, based on a report of an NCA visitation team. The Self-Study Report was completed in May 1967, and accreditation was granted in April of 1968. NCA has subsequently reaccredited the College in 1973, 1984, 1993, 2004, 2013 and 2020.
The Higher Learning Commission has two "pathways" for accreditation. Delta College participates in the Standard Pathway. Our next reaffirmation of accreditation is scheduled for 2029–2030. A comprehensive evaluation will occur in 2024.
Delta College was named one of the country's top 50 leading community colleges by the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
With more than 60,000 graduates around the country, and beyond, you'll find Delta College graduates everywhere!
