Accreditations

Accreditation is the process of ensuring that an educational institution meets a certain level of standards. Accreditation is voluntary, but Delta is accredited through a number of accrediting bodies.

It's our quality assurance system, so you know you're getting a quality education and that your credits will transfer. Federal financial aid is also available to students who attend an accredited institution.

At Delta, you get a top-quality education from instructors who are here to teach. And, they're really good at it.

Delta College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Initial accreditation was granted to Delta in October 1962 by the Michigan Commission on College Accreditation.

Delta's accreditation history

A status study to prepare for candidacy was submitted to the NCA in May 1964, as a first step toward regional accreditation. College officials were notified in July 1966 that the College had been accepted as a candidate for accreditation, based on a report of an NCA visitation team. The Self-Study Report was completed in May 1967, and accreditation was granted in April of 1968. NCA has subsequently reaccredited the College in 1973, 1984, 1993, 2004 and 2013.

AQIP

Delta College has also been accepted to participate in the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP), which was launched in July 1999 with a generous grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts. AQIP infuses the principles and benefits of continuous improvement into the culture of colleges and universities by providing an alternative process through which an already-accredited institution can maintain its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. With AQIP, an institution demonstrates that it meets accreditation standards and expectations through sequences of events that align with those ongoing activities that characterize organizations striving to improve their performance.
