Credit-by-examination

With Credit-By-Examination, you take a test at Delta’s Testing Center and if you pass you get the credit or waive the class. It’s pretty straightforward.

Before Registering
  • Credits earned through Credit-by-Exam will not transfer to other colleges or universities.
  • You may not be currently enrolled in the class, nor have taken it previously.
  • Credit-by-Examinations receive a pass/fail. You will not receive a grade. If you choose the credit option, credits will be posted to your transcript.
  • Some courses require prerequisites.  Refer to the current Delta College Catalog to determine if you have met the prerequisites before registering for an exam.
How to Register
  1. Complete the Delta College Credit-by-Exam registration form. Fees are $50.00 per credit hour, or $35.00 for a waiver.  Fees are nonrefundable and non-transferable.
  2. Upon receipt of above, you will be contacted to schedule your appointment and to receive last minute instructions.  All appointments will be scheduled Monday - Thursday 10am - 7:45pm.  During Fall and Winter semesters, you may also schedule an appointment on Fridays 10am - 2:45pm. Exams are not administered the last two (2) weeks of the semester.
  3. Arrive on time for your appointment.
Credit-by-portfolio

With Credit-By-Portfolio, you get college credit for related work experience equivalent to that taught in the classroom. There is a submission process (along with a $50 per credit hour fee). Not every subject can be taken by Credit-By-Portfolio, but if successful, the earned credits are recorded on your transcript and are applied to your Delta degree.

You only get one shot, but if you can show you know what’s taught in the class, it’s a good way to gain credit and save quite a bit of cash.

Also, you can only earn 38 total credits from Credit-By-Portfolio. The rest? You need to get those in the classroom.

Please contact your program of study for Credit-by-Portfolio options and information on how to register.

SUCCESS TIP:  Gets lots of sleep and eat a healthy meal beforehand

It's true, getting a lot of sleep the night before you take a test will help you do better. And, making sure you have a good healthy meal will help too. No one functions well when they're tired and hungry.
