Receive Delta College Email on a Mobile Device

Most smart phones and tablet devices have built-in email functionality which can be setup to access your Delta College email. It is important to note that setting up your device to access email can use a great deal of data. If you are setting up your email on a mobile phone or cellular device, consult your service provider and your plan to ensure you have the proper data allowance. Delta College is not responsible for any finance charges levied by wireless providers. When possible, utilize free wi-fi such as the Delta College wireless network to reduce any possible data usage overages.

As there are numerous varied devices on the market, the instructions below are generalized. You may need to consult the manufacture or device manual for specific instructions unique to your device.

 

 

Mobile Device Configuration

IMPORTANT: If you have already configured your mobile device in the past, please remove the account/profile from your mobile device and add it back in.  Updating existing accounts/profiles may not work correctly.  

Android Devices

    1. Open Settings from within the Application Tray.
    2. Open the Accounts section.
    3. Select Add Account and choose Exchange Active Sync, Microsoft Exchange, or Corporate, depending on the device you're configuring. 
    4. Enter your Delta College email address (YourName@delta.edu) and Password and then Continue.
           >  Some Android versions require a username during this stage.
           >  Enter your email address in the username field.  Leave the domain field blank 
    5. The auto-configuration will likely fail, however that is common.
    6. Continue onto the page where you can enter the account settings.  These settings have been provided below:

           Domain\Username:                            YourName@delta.edu
           Password:                                          [Your MyPortal, MyDelta, Computer Password]
           Server:                                               Outlook.Office365.com
           Use Secure Connection (SSL):           Checked
           Accept all SSL certificates:                UnChecked
    7. Touch Done, or Next.
    8. A prompt may display asking to allow a system administrator to access this device.  Accept this prompt, as this enables security features that are available within Outlook Web App.
    9. Your account should verify and add to your device successfully.  Mail, contacts, and calendars will start to synchronize over the next few minutes. 

Note:  There are several different versions of Android.  Each device manufacturer / phone carrier has their own user interface.  This guide will not be able to account for every device; however it should include the necessary information to configure an Android device.

 

 Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

  1.  If this is the first email account on your iPhone, touch Mail.  Otherwise, touch Settings then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then Add Account.
  2. Touch Microsoft Exchange
  3. Type the information requested into the Email and Password boxes.  You need to type your full email address (YourName@delta.edu) in the Email Box.
  4. Touch Next on the upper-right corner of the screen.  Your mail program will try to find the settings it needs to set up your account.  If the auto-configuration fails, you'll need to manually enter additional information:
                                    Email:                            YourName@delta.edu
                                    Server:                          Outlook.Office365.com
                                    Domain:                         [Leave Blank]
                                    Username:                     YourName@delta.edu
                                    Password:                      [Your MyPortal, MyDelta, Computer Password]
     
  5. Touch Next to continue.
  6. Choose the type of information you want to synchronize between your account and your device, and then touch Save.  By default, Mail, Contacts, and Calendar information are synchronized.
  7. If you're prompted to create a password, touch Continue and type a numeric passcode.  If you don't set up a passcode, you can't view your email account on your iPhone.  You can set a passcode later from within your iPhone settings.

 

Windows 8 Phone

  1. Swipe to the right and select Settings.
  2. Select Email and Accounts.
  3. Touch Add an Account.
  4. Select Outlook.
  5. Enter your Delta College email address (YourName@delta.edu) and Password.
  6. Touch Sign In.
  7. Your account will then verify, and add your mail, calendar, and contacts.

Within the menu that appears, choose Options.

 

Follow the Connect your Mobile Phone or Device to your Account link.

 

Find your Device within the list and follow the instruction to configure your device.
