Tuition and Fees Payment and Refund Policies

Payment Policy

Full payment of tuition and fees by the payment deadline is required to complete registration. When you register for a class, a seat is reserved for you. This obligates you to pay tuition and fees for that seat. If your payment is not sufficient or subsequently adjusted for changes in financial aid or sponsor authorization, Delta College reserves the right to drop you for non-payment or submit your unpaid student account balance to legal collection process. You will be responsible to pay any collection and attorney fees resulting from legal collection process.

Refund Policy

Deadlines may fall on a Saturday, Sunday, or holidays when offices are closed. You may drop courses online at, in person, by email to, by faxing a letter (989-667-2221) or mailing a letter (postmark will be considered the drop date). Any refund due to you will be processed after the Add/Drop period has ended. Contact Student Finance (989-686-9333) for questions regarding refunds.

Refunds are based on the date the add/drop is processed according to these charts. Calendar days begin and include the first day of college class, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

For Courses Greater Than Four Weeks

100% REFUND: From the official start date listed through the 7th calendar day.*

50% REFUND: From the 8th through the 11th calendar day* from the official start date listed.

NO REFUND: After the 11th calendar day* from the official start date listed.

*Calendar day is defined as all the days of the week including Saturday, Sunday, and holidays and includes the first day of class.

For Courses Less Than Four Weeks but More than Two Days

100% REFUND: Through the first quarter of the total days** of the course.

50% REFUND: Through the second quarter of the total days** of the course.

NO REFUND: After the second quarter of the course.

**Total days is defined as all the days of the course from the start date to the end date listed and includes the first day of class and Saturday, Sunday or holidays.

For One or Two Day Courses and Lifelong Learning*** Courses:

100% REFUND before the start date of the course. No refund after the course begins.

***Some courses are nonrefundable or nontransferable. For details regarding Lifelong Learning courses, call (989) 686-9444.

REGISTRATION FEE: Non-refundable, per semester fee charged upon registration. No refund, unless all courses are cancelled by the College.


During the 12th through the 25th day from the official start date listed in the schedule, students are permitted to offset equal credits and course fees within the same academic discipline (for example, switching from one ENG course to another ENG course, but not from an ENG course to a MTH course) with the written recommendation of their instructors through the add/drop procedure. For credits or fees added in excess of credits dropped, additional tuition and fees must be paid. During this period, grades of "W" will not be assigned to courses dropped through the offset process. Offset cannot be done between sessions (for example, dropping an ENG course during the first 7 1/2 week session and adding an ENG course during the second 7 1/2 week session or dropping a MTH course during the Spring session and adding a MTH course during the Summer session).

Financial Aid recipients who completely withdraw from Delta: please refer to Attendance Policy for details of the Return of Funds Policy or contact the Financial Aid Office.
