As an educational institution, we are aware of our unique position not only to provide by example, but to act as a leader to future generations. Delta College recognizes the value of student involvement to create positive and healthy relationships between human beings and the natural environment upon which we all depend.

Wear the Apparel - Make a choice to reuse or recycle! Commencement apparel by Repreve uses 100 percent recycled content yarn including post-consumer plastics and pre-consumer polyester fiber waste. Twenty six plastic bottles are woven into each gown offsetting the need to use new crude oil. On average, every pound of yarn conserves the equivalent of half a gallon of gasoline. Repreve also makes an annual donation to a sustainable cause. Students may choose to reuse former gowns! Reusing is a sustainable action and a testament to the evolving process of sustainability.
Earn the Diploma - Commencement diploma paper, produced by Mohawk Papers, contains 30% post consumer content. Mohawk is FSC-certified, carbon neutral, elemental chlorine and process chlorine free, Rainforest Alliance Certified, Green Seal Certified, and operates on 100% wind power!
Student Sustainability Survey
As part of the national Sustainability Tracking & Rating System, the college conducts an annual survey. The goal is to assess student awareness of sustainability concepts, their knowledge of outreach events, academic opportunities, and green campus initiatives.
The results help institutions to evaluate the success of sustainability education and outreach and to develop insight into how these initiatives could be improved. The survey focuses on knowledge of sustainability topics, not values or beliefs.
Students can complete the survey on the Sustainability Webpage under Student Leadership at http://www.delta.edu/sustainability/student-leadership.aspx.
