The Delta Astronomy Club strives to increase interest in astronomy and share the beauty of the night sky with students and the surrounding community. Members have many exciting opportunities to observe galaxies, nebulae and other deep space objects while learning more about the science.
MEMBER Benefits
As a club member, you'll have access to state-of-the-art equipment, such as a 14” Dobsonian telescope, a SolarMax 60 II solar telescope, various eyepieces and more that you wouldn’t get anywhere else, even at a research level university. You'll also have special admission to the Fish Lake Astronomical Event and the Great Lakes Star Gaze annual Star Party.
The club engages in many community activities, special events and trips each year, including the International Observe the Moon Night at the Delta College Planetarium in Bay City. Three times a year, the club visits the Kresge Environmental Education Center in Lapeer for a weekend of star gazing and exploring nature at the Fish Lake Astronomical Events. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to assist Delta astronomy professors in conducting their nighttime class observations by operating one of Delta's telescopes.
MEETING SCHEDULE
The club meets bi-monthly (twice a month).
"Joining the Astronomy Club helped me interact more with other people with the same interest and it helped me learn a lot more about the world we live in and astronomy and science in general, physics even."
