This year's event will be held on Friday, March 14 from 8am–2pm. Registration is now open.
The event will be held virtually and in person. The schools will register for the event not for the individual activities. Registration will be on a first come first serve basis so please register as soon as possible. Each school will be limited to 75 girls in the face to face format. There is not a limit for the virtual format. Students will be placed in groups of 15 with at least one chaperone (from the school) required per group of students.
Schools must submit the names of the girls participating in the face to face event no later than February 28, 2025. In addition, each girl must have a signed Waiver, Assumption of Risk & Release of Liability form (PDF) in order to attend the event no later than February 28, 2025. The names and forms may be submitted to girlsdayout@delta.edu. Please note that there is no holding area available at the event for girls that do not have their waiver form completed ahead of time and are not officially registered. Delta will be providing lunches for attendees this year. Delta is also working hard to make partial bussing reimbursements to help offset your transportation costs.

Dr. June Teisan, a National Board-Certified Teacher and STEAM educator, has received numerous accolades, including Michigan Teacher of the Year (2008), a Top Four Finalist for U.S. National Teacher of the Year, the White House Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, and induction into the National Teacher Hall of Fame. Her career includes roles as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at NOAA, a visiting lecturer at Oakland University, an Education Specialist at Detroit’s Belle Isle Aquarium, and K-12 Alliance Manager for the National Center for Women & Information Technology. Dr. Teisan serves on various educational leadership boards and is dedicated to expanding opportunities for under-resourced students in STEM and Computer Science. As founder and CEO of InnovatED313, she supports Detroit and SE Michigan teachers by providing professional development and helping implement engaging STEAM and CS programs to enrich lives and foster community growth.
Canika Owen-Robinson, Director of The Neighb Community Center and New Business Integration Leader at Savant, has over 30 years of dedication to science and education. At Savant, she oversees new lab capabilities, including equipment selection, project management, and training, while also managing capital planning to sustain world-class lab operations. A graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Canika has been a passionate advocate for STEM and STEAM education, inspiring children to engage in science and the arts. As Coordinator of the Michigan State NAACP ACT-SO Program and Co-Chair of the Saginaw NAACP ACT-SO Program, she has mentored and prepared students for national success over 27 years. Her extensive volunteer work includes youth programs, robotics education, arts advocacy, and community empowerment through Daniel’s Den Ministries, Saginaw Public Schools, and the American Cancer Society. Canika is also a children’s book author, highlighting diverse stories to inspire young readers. Recognized with the Saginaw All Area Arts Award and Juneteenth Award, she continues to make a profound impact on education, youth development, and community service.
