Walking the Red Carpet: Emmy Award Winners from Delta College

Kim Wells and Bob PrzybylskiVideo talent at Delta College continues to amaze as two employees were honored this summer with EMMY Awards for their work on a pair of highly acclaimed documentaries.

Bob Przybylski, Q-TV Producer/Director, and Kim Wells, Associate Professor of Electronic Media, were recognized in June at the 41st annual awards ceremony presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences – Michigan Chapter at the SoundBoard Theater in Detroit.

Przybylski received an EMMY in the Historical Documentary category for his production of “VIETNAM VOICES: Mid-Michigan Remembers the Vietnam War.” This was Przybylski’s first EMMY after five nominations.

“VIETNAM VOICES: Mid-Michigan Remembers the Vietnam War” featured 31 local individuals who reflect back on their personal experiences during the volatile Vietnam War era. It explored topics such as the anti-war movement, the impact of television news coverage of the war, Agent Orange, PTSD, the Vietnam War Memorial and more through discussions with anti-war protesters, family members, high school and college students who were eligible for the military draft and two Vietnamese immigrants who came to the United States after the war.

Wells won her EMMY in the Editor – Program (Non-News) category for her documentary, “My Two Brothers.” This was Wells’ second EMMY award.

“My Two Brothers” explored the effects of gun violence on law enforcement and its aftermath. It told the stories of former Pontiac police officer Charlie Johnson and former Detroit police officer Lloyd Michael “Mike” Todd, each shot in the head in separate incidents, and eventually left alone to try to piece their lives back together.
