Through Huntington Bank, which administers two long-time Saginaw trusts, Delta College
received donations from the Michael Jeffers Memorial Education Fund and the C.K. Eddy
Family Memorial Fund. These dollars supported construction, classroom technology and
external site work in Saginaw.
The original donors are part of downtown Saginaw’s history and landmarks. Michael Jeffers was born in Northern Ireland and by 1854 constructed the largest sawmill in the Saginaw Valley. He built a substantial fortune, with a large portfolio of real estate investments in Saginaw.
C.K. Eddy was also a lumberman in an industry that built Saginaw and other communities in the region. C.K. Eddy and Sons Co. purchased the building at 100 N. Washington from Jesse Hoyt and added two floors, bringing the “Eddy Building” to its current six-story height. That building still stands at the corner of Washington Avenue and East Genesee in downtown Saginaw, which is directly across the street from Huntington Bank.
