Greetings to all and welcome to Delta’s fall issue of Journeys!
What a different twist we are all experiencing as we move through these unprecedented times. Each of us is affected in different ways, and as we adapt and learn our new norms and work them into our lives, it’s more important than ever that we be patient, considerate and tolerant of others.
As we adapt to our ever-changing lives, Delta College remains diligent in its approach to providing faculty, staff and students the best and safest possible experience, whether it be in person, on campus, or through online classes. The fall semester began on August 29 with many classes online and some in person for students in the technical and health programs.
In this issue of Journeys, you’ll learn about the many ways Delta faculty members and students are successfully adjusting to remote teaching and learning this academic year (spoiler alert: it’s creative, interactive and smart). You’ll also read about several new scholarships and endowments and the generous donors who were moved to support our students.
This academic year, the Delta College Foundation awarded $668,150 in scholarship funding to 552 students. You will see a listing of those scholarship recipients on pages 14 through 23. Thank you to the many individuals in the Great Lakes Bay Region who have generously given to Delta College. It has enabled the college to continue its important mission of providing a quality education for students – the future of our region.
In November, I hope you’ll join me online during a special Chocolate Affair event. Read on to learn about the weeklong fundraising event, and how you can get involved in helping students in the Possible Dream program.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned during these past months, it’s that we can all get through this together. Thank you for all you do and for your steadfast support of Delta College!
