Coronavirus updates, tips on overcoming cabin fever, and a review of a new movie are just some of the stories that were featured in the first-ever mini version of the Delta Collegiate, Delta College’s student-run newspaper.
The six-page Mini-Collegiate was first published on March 23.
Editor-in-Chief Patrick Sochacki said he wants to keep the Delta community connected
despite disruption of the newspaper’s typical biweekly, printed version, which came
to a temporary pause when Delta College closed buildings
in March.
“We want to keep engaging our readers with the familiarity of a print newspaper, so we opted to make a shorter copy every week so students could see us regularly,” said Sochacki, a broadcast major from Essexville.
The mini issues include a mix of local and Delta news, as well as arts and entertainment, science and health, opinion pieces and student submissions.
“We offer a platform for students, staff and faculty to share their voice and we want our readers to remember that we’re here for them,” he said.
The Delta Collegiate is an award-winning, non-profit newspaper that has been student run since 1961.
