Welcome to a new academic year at Delta and our fall issue of Journeys!
As Chair of the Delta College Foundation’s Board of Directors, I’m pleased to let you know about some of the great things happening at Delta. We believe you will be excited to see the recent and future activities, and the stories of the people who continue to prove Delta College is a gem in our community.
You will see the results of the latest major investment in our campus facilities, which was recently celebrated at the dedication and open house for the Public Media renovations.
Continuing to provide state of the art facilities helps Delta attract students and the best professors, but we all know many students in our community also need financial support to help ensure their success. You will see many examples of the importance and results of this support, which many of you have helped provide.
The Possible Dream Program helps make college possible for area youth, and it continues to be supported by sponsors and attendees of the always fun and delicious Chocolate Affair event. Enjoy it again on November 3rd at Horizons. You will see the profile of a Possible Dream student Sa`Niah Jackson and hear about the program’s new director, Lindsay Bryce.
Read about the new Gracia E. Marsh Scholarship Endowment and the Eric “Q” Beckman Memorial Scholarship and Award Endowments. And, we show how scholarships impact the students who receive them as well as provide information about how many Possible Dream students go on to college.
A Delta College Alumni success story highlights Margie Crowe, who retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2014.
We all know how important talented teachers are to the future success of students,
so please do not miss the latest about the Dow Innovation Teachers Fellowship, Delta’s
partnership with
the University of Michigan.
On behalf of the Foundation Board and everyone at
Delta College, I want to thank our alumni and community supporters for continuing
to help us meet the needs of our community and our students. Many students continue to need special assistance, so please contact the Foundation
office if you would like to help one succeed.
