On September 9, Delta College celebrated the completion of a construction project in its Public Media facilities. Legislators and dignitaries gathered to dedicate the space, along with a number of financial supporters of the college and its public broadcasting stations, WDCQ-TV and WUCX-FM.
Located on the lower level of the college, the $2.8 million renovation addressed 11,300-square-foot
of space, including radio studios and academic lab spaces. The project was funded in part through a capital outlay project through the state
of Michigan, which provided half of the dollars for the improvements.
The newly designed space offers more opportunities for students, including Delta College’s electronic media and journalism academic programs. The state-of-the-art space included a computer lab, classrooms, radio studios, equipment storage, student work spaces and a commons area. The broadcasting facilities dated back to Delta’s inception in 1961 and had undergone only minor updates.
