Meet Haley DeCaire, a 2023 graduate of Birch Run High School and the Possible Dream Program.
In June, she was recognized with fellow high school seniors during the program’s induction
ceremony of
new “dreamers.”
Haley, a Birch Run native, is a recipient of the President’s Honors Scholarship, a full-ride scholarship that covers two years of tuition, fees and books for incoming Delta College students. The academic-based scholarship is for exceptional students in Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties. She is attending Delta College to study radiography.
DeCaire: I joined in seventh grade, so it’s been a long time. I was excited to experience new things and explore different career paths and subjects related to college.
DeCaire: It opened many opportunities, including helping me decide what field I want to enter and preparing me for college and the future.
DeCaire: I wanted to go into healthcare after I went to my doctor’s appointment and saw my X-rays. The doctor showed me what they meant and explained the medical terminology, so the whole concept of radiology and helping people sparked my interest.
DeCaire: I live not too far away, plus the low tuition rates are great. I also applied and won the President’s Honors Scholarship. I’m looking forward to the flexible schedule and attending classes that are meant for me and what I want to do.
DeCaire: Keep going! Get involved in anything you can, apply for almost everything – because they send out so many activities every year. Just do as much as you can, always put 110 percent toward what you love and enjoy.
