I am honored to serve as the Chair of the Delta College Foundation’s Board of Directors, and I am pleased to give you a preview of this magazine’s many stories about recent and future activities at Delta.
It has been another successful academic year filled with events and the efforts of many people which have combined to benefit Delta students and our entire community.
There has been a tremendous effort to improve access to the great education young people and adults can receive at Delta College, regardless of their financial situation. This has been done utilizing public and generous private funds, including a few shared in this issue.
Lt. Governor Gilchrist visited Delta earlier this year to highlight Michigan’s Reconnect scholarship program. It helps students who are at least 25-years-old receive free tuition to continue their education.
Two new scholarship endowments were established at the Foundation thanks to the Jack and Anita Crowell family and the Gougeon Employees Foundation.
Supporters of Delta College were recognized and celebrated at the President’s Circle Dinner on May 10.
The arts have always enriched the education of students and the lives of many people throughout our community. You can read about some of Delta’s artistic assets and an example of how one student put his talent to use:
The Delta Flute Choir is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Delta College continues to expand its offerings with the dedication of a Rita Greve sculpture.
An art student is highlighted for designing the graphics for the new Delta Public Safety cruisers.
On behalf of the Delta College Foundation Board, as well as Delta’s educators, staff and students, I want to thank all of you who have continued to help us meet the needs of our community. You have helped provide continuing education and hope for successful careers for our students. And, you have helped train the future workforce that many businesses in our region desperately need.
