Graduate Student Awards honor students’ academic success

Whitney Ellison and Megan WallAs commencement season is upon us, Delta College is celebrating the success of its high-achieving students from the Class of 2023 during its annual Graduate Student Awards Ceremony.

In recognition of the best and the brightest of our students who have excelled academically, award recipients will be honored on Tuesday, April 25 at 4pm in the Lecture Theater at the main campus.                                                                                                                                                                          

Thanks to the generosity of many businesses, organizations and individuals, recipients will receive lasting recognition on plaques displayed at the college and monetary gifts to assist with their future endeavors.

  • The William R. Collings Award of Excellence recipient will receive $1,250.
  • The Robert and Joyce Hetzler Family Award recipient will receive $1,000.
  • Graduate Student Award recipients will receive $750.
  • Board of Trustees recipients will each receive $500.

Academic Achievement & Superior Citizenship
William R. Collings Award of Excellence
Whitney M. Ellison (Midland)

Ellison will receive her associate degree in nursing at Delta and graduate from Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in December, thanks to the concurrent program with Delta and SVSU. She has accepted a full-time position as a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery at Covenant Healthcare. She plans to apply for her Doctor of Nursing degree in the nurse-midwifery program at the University of Michigan.

Service & Leadership
Robert and Joyce Hetzler Award
Megan H. Wall (Sanford)

Wall graduated from Delta in December 2022 with an associate degree in nursing. She will attend Ferris State University this fall to pursue her bachelor’s degree in nursing and accepted a position at a local hospital in Big Rapids. Her career goal is to earn a master’s degree in nursing education and administration to teach, citing her Delta professors as inspiration.
