Dr. Michael Gavin, president of Delta College, has been appointed Chairperson of the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA) Student Success Committee.

"I look forward to working with thought leaders to increase equitable student completion and ensure that Michigan remains on the cutting edge of student success," Gavin said.

The committee provides strategic direction to the MCCA on matters that impact the Michigan Center for Student Success in addition to student success efforts at the MCCA’s 31 member institutions, fundraising and makes recommendations to the MCCA Board of Directors.

Brandy Johnson, president of the Michigan Community College Association, noted President Gavin as an “instrumental” presence that embodies the mission and vision of strengthening student success in higher education.

"The Michigan Community College Association's newly adopted mission is to be the unified voice for Michigan’s community colleges, empowering members to lead in student success, talent development, and community vitality,” Johnson said. “Gavin's leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our student success agenda at the MCCA.”

Erica Orians, vice president and executive director of the Michigan Center for Student Success, echoed her excitement to work alongside Gavin.

“I am delighted to work with President Gavin and the entire Student Success Committee to support our collaborative efforts to improve equitable student outcomes,” Orians said.
