An immersive preview and discussion of the upcoming Great American Solar Eclipse

March 5, 2024

Text: Totality! Chasing the Shadow image of a total solar eclipse

Join the Delta College Planetarium Thursday, March 14 at 7pm for a unique immersive preview and discussion of the upcoming Great American Solar Eclipse that will be crossing the country this April.

On April 8, millions of people across North America will be amazed as they observe one of nature's most wondrous spectacles — a total eclipse of the Sun. This once in a generation phenomenon will not occur again until 2045.

This discussion will be led by Mike Murray, astronomer and Delta College Planetarium manager.  Murray will highlight what a solar eclipse is and how to get the most out of the total eclipse experience. He will cover where to see totality and how to view the Sun safely. The presentation will also include a special, full-dome immersive video with animations of total eclipses.

Admission to the program is $5 and includes a pair of certified safe eclipse viewers (for that show only). Eclipse glasses are available for purchase in the Delta College Planetarium gift shop for $1. The Delta College Planetarium is located in downtown Bay City at 100 Center Avenue.
