Did you know that by 2025 it is estimated that 22 percent of Michigan residents will experience Alzheimer’s disease? Plus, more than 15 million Americans provide unpaid care for loved ones with dementia, and about 33 percent of those caregivers are ages 65 and older.
Get the training and support you need. Delta College has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter to offer classes to help local families and professionals respond with compassion to a growing number of adults affected by this illness.
The classes are designed for those who frequently interact with people with dementia including nurses, CNAs, social workers, home health aides, assisted living staff and personal caregivers. Classes are interactive and provide practical skills, which can be applied in the workplace or home setting immediately.
Currently, there is no cure to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Learn the facts and techniques to provide specialize care to support families. Register now through October 20. Classes begin November 4 on the Delta College main campus. All classes are held Saturdays and range from 2 - 5 hours. All materials are included in the registration fee and classes are approved for continuing education credits for nurses and social workers.
