Dark Side of the Moon comes to Planetarium

Beginning Saturday, March 4 at 7pm, the Delta College Planetarium will feature a completely modernized music dome show to Pink Floyd’s immortal “Dark Side of the Moon” album.

Still one of the most popular soundtracks for light shows worldwide, the show features the music of famed British art/rock group Pink Floyd, visually interpreted with spectacular computer visualizations and special effects. The 45-minute multi-visual performance will feature Pink Floyd’s most popular album, mixed in 5.1 digital surround sound and played through the planetarium’s 12,000 watt sound system.

The wrap-around environment of the Planetarium’s Dome360 Theater allows for the creation of countless three-dimensional effects, making the music seemingly come to life. The heart of these effects, called Digistar, will create flights through space, soaring landscapes, spinning tunnels and abstract figures; a fun and imaginative journey for the senses.

“Modernized fulldome animation and lighting effects will add a new dimension to the show,” says Mike Murray, Planetarium Manager. “The visuals will feel more varied and intense this time around,” adds Murray.

“Dark Side of the Moon” will play on Saturdays March 4 through April 29 at 7pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children, students, seniors and military. Due to its intense nature and language, the show is not recommended for children under ten. For more information, go to the Planetarium’s website or call 989-667-2260. The Delta College Planetarium & Learning Center is located at 100 Center Avenue in downtown Bay City.
