Commencement 2019

Delta College will celebrate hundreds of new graduates April 29 at its first traditional in-person commencement in three years.

Two ceremonies will take place this year in the Pioneer Gymnasium on the main campus to avoid overcrowding and to allow visitors to maintain safe distances. The first ceremony will take place at 2pm; the second at 7pm.

“Commencement is an important experience for students to celebrate all they’ve achieved and will go on to achieve, and our Pioneers are no exception,” said Dr. Michael Gavin, president of Delta. “I’m excited to see students once again walk across the stage at commencement and share in the excitement of this very special day.”

Each year, two graduates are selected to speak at commencement. This year’s presenters are Caleb Buda, a native of Bullock Creek who played on the baseball team and is graduating with an associate in arts degree, and Abigail Kolb, from St. Charles who is graduating with an associate degree in welding. Remarks will also be given by Gavin, who is celebrating his first commencement as president.

The 2pm ceremony will include students graduating with degrees in the areas of Arts and Letters, Social Science and General Studies. The 7pm ceremony will include students in the areas of Business and Technology, Health and Wellness, and Science and Mathematics.

The ceremonies will be broadcast live from Delta’s Facebook page.
