Security checkup: Delta College to host free cybersecurity event

October 13, 2022

It's time to check your online security. As part of cybersecurity month, Delta College computer science faculty are offering a free seminar to help protect your data and devices.

The one-hour course, “If You Connect It, Protect It! Securing Devices at Home and Work,” will be hosted by Kristopher Howery, lead instructor for Delta’s cybersecurity program. The event, free and open to the community, takes place in conjunction with National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The course will be offered twice on Zoom:

Howery, associate professor of computer science and information technology, will discuss online protection, email security and firewalls, as well as password security and how to properly store passwords.

Delta’s cybersecurity associate’s degree program and the college are a designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education, jointly sponsored by the U.S. National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
