Delta College has been named a Gold-Status Veteran-Friendly School for 2023-2024 by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA).
MVAA recognizes institutions that are committed to supporting the needs of their veteran
and military-connected students. These institutions are awarded gold, silver and bronze-level
status based on their veteran-centric services and programs. Delta College is one
of 47 institutions earning gold-level, including public universities and trade schools.
Brittany Hodges, Delta’s veteran services coordinator, works with an average of 91
students per semester, providing guidance and application assistance for VA education
benefits. Hodges expressed her pride in the recognition and the “greater access” the
college has with the Michigan veteran and military community.
“It is exciting that Delta College has been named a gold-level Michigan Veteran Friendly
School. Delta College has maintained and exceeded this standard since 2016. Veteran
Services looks forward to supporting new initiatives so that we may continue to show
our passion in supporting those who have served,” Hodges said.
To further serve the needs of veteran students, Hodges added, “This year, we took
the extra step of becoming a Veteran Connector school - including the completion of the Governor's Challenge, an initiative to prevent
suicide among veterans, service members and their families.”
Veteran and military students make up 2 percent of Delta’s student population. One
key benefit Delta offers all who are funding their education through the G.I. Bill®
is the in-district tuition rate, regardless of where they live.
